What brings our volunteers to Iowa MOST?

Jim Wilson

The president of Mentor Corporation, a subsidiary of Johnson and Johnson, is David Wilson.  David had asked his dad Jim if the two of them could take a trip because they have few opportunities to spend time together.  Their opportunity came when David invited his dad to participate with him in the Iowa MOST mission.

So originally Jim came to spend time with his son.  "That was in the beginning,"he says and he began to wonder how he would fit in.  However, he has been doing the same things here as at home where he is a hospital chaplain who provides support and comfort to patients and staff.  In Guatemala he has more hands-on medical involvement, though.  Yesterday he observed a child's surgery and then helped care for the child in recovery.  You saw a photo of Jim providing Recovery Room TLC in the previous blog post.

Jim considers the effects of the mission much like a retreat for himself and the rest of the team.  "We are experiencing what is good for the soul" because what is being done on this mision has "positive human value."

Jim came on this mission to be with his son and they are sharing a truly unique experience, renewing their bond during these unforgettable days.
